The Oriental (Chinese) calendar is based on a 12-year lunar cycle, in which each year passes under the sign of one animal. It is believed that the sign of the zodiac animal affects the nature of each person.

Signs of the Chinese horoscope are: Rat, Bull, Tiger, Rabbit (Cat), Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.

The New Year according to the Oriental calendar falls on different dates between 21 January and 20 February. 2020, the Year of the White Metal Rat, opens the twelve-year cycle of the Oriental calendar. It will begin on January 25, 2020 and will last until February 11, 2021.

The project was prepared in cooperation with the Republican Institute of Confucius China Studies of the Belarusian State University.
